Standing in the Rain: Humanism in Action
The following work was inspired by an event Marc witnessed in a physician's private clinic.  This piece was awarded honorable mention in the Arnold P. Gold Foundation's annual National Humanism-in-Medicine Essay Contest.  It was published in the April 2004 edition of the Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center publication, "Inside Info."

Thomas Jefferson and his Academical Village
The following essay was based on a speech Marc Matrana gave at a monthly general membership meeting of the Westwego Historical Society.  It was published in "Gumbo Roots," Vol 14, No 2, June 2003.
